Lies

Imagine if money disappeared and all we had to trade was truth as currency. If you want to purchase something you must pay a new truth. By giving a number of new truths pleasant or unpleasant. You are allowed to purchase your good or service.

Initially, you would imagine the transition to be painful, but over time society would become very honest and truthful.

But the funny thing is, society already operates on truth because society operates on reality and universal laws. Truth just isn’t explicitly encouraged and nurtured in the systems that raise us.

Yes, none of our parents explicitly teach us to lie.
But we are all put through a system that rewards us based on entering answers and discourages questions that question the script. A systems that discourages collaboration and learning from another, by labelling it as copying. A system that doesn’t teach us to question assumptions or  how to give and take constructive criticism. A system that uses shame and ostracization to punish children. A system that says if you can get away with lying on this test, or lying to your teacher or parent. You will succeed.

Then you get a society that is avoidant of truth.

The saving grace is that the people who actually live in search of the truth, end up living the most fulfilled and most actualised lives. Because that is the way the world works, regardless of the lies you’ve been told.
